90s rock icons Jane’s Addiction stopped in Los Angeles last week to play a sold out show at The Hollywood Palladium. Damnage and LA Witch fueled up the crowd as supporting acts. Lead singer Perry Farrell dazzled in a custom denim outfit by Bill Farrelly (aka @staychillbill) and stylist Cathy Hahn, while uniting the crowd with a contagious smile and grateful aura. The band sounded seamlessly on point, while instrumentals blended beautifully with each other.

Original members Eric Avery (bass) and Stephen Perkins (drums) were included in the lineup along with Farrell. Guitarist Dave Navarro is still taking time off from the band as he continues his battle with complications due to long Covid. Josh Klinghoffer (Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Pearl Jam) is currently filling in for Navarro — who perfectly executed the performance and fit right into place. The stage setup included bars and climbable structures, which brings us to… the dancers. It wouldn’t have been a true Jane’s Addiction show without glamorously dressed dancers adorning the backdrop of the show.

Treating us to a generous setlist, Jane’s Addiction brought out the nostalgia in us all. Kicking off with “Up The Beach,” the band continued on with songs from their self-titled album as well as Nothing’s Shocking and Ritual de lo habitual. Farrell reminicised of old times between songs and dedicated the show to friends who have passed, telling the crowd (while raising a toast): “Even though they are no longer with us, they are definitely here in spirit and watching this show with all of you.” The crowd easily matched the band’s onstage energy, cheering in agreement and shouting short affirmations and memorable moments. Many fans brought their younger children to pass the torch of fandom and experience their first-ever live Jane’s Addiction show. The guys went out with a bang during a 3-song encore including: “True Love,” “Jane Says,” and “Stop!”

Jane’s Addiction will be performing a few dates in South America before hitting the road with The Smashing Pumpkins on their upcoming Australian tour in April. We hope to see Jane’s Addiction back in the states soon and send our best to Dave Navarro as he continues on his healing journey.
