Interview: Who is Charly & Faust?

Concert Crap: Can you talk about a brief history of the band?

Faust: Charly and I first met in Paris, France. When we moved in Los Angeles we started playing and singing together for ourselves and in front of our friends. After a few months we realized we wanted to do a band together.

Charly: We needed other members in the band to give more power to our lyrics and sound. That is when Coralie Hervé (Drums), Eric Reymond (Bass and backing vocals), Jefferson Fichou (Lead guitar and backing vocals) and Nathan Lorber (Keys) joined us.

CC: What does your band name mean?

Faust: It’s our two nicknames together. My nickname is Faust (coming from Faustine)…

Charly: … and mine is Charly. It’s a long story, I’ll tell it another day 😉

CC: Who are some of your musical inspirations?

Charly: I would say The Who since I discovered that you could feel something when you listen to music with them. And then Tracy Chapman, Kodaline, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, etc.

Faust: I love Vanessa Paradis for her vibes. She always inspired me! In a different register I am a huge fan of Michael Jackson, Nancy Sinatra and Joan Jett.

CC: Who would you like to tour with realistically and unrealistically?

Charly: I would love to tour with Asaf Avidan. This guy is fantastic and so talented. Unrealistically, it would be awesome to tour with Jimmy Hendrix or Janis Joplin.

Faust: Realistically, I’d love to tour with the artist LP (Laura Pergolizzi)! It would be amazing! Unrealistically, I would love to tour with The Runaways!

CC: What does the rest of 2017 have in store for you guys?

Charly: We don’t have much time left for 2017 *laughs*. But we are working on this new project that can be really cool if we are doing things correctly. Recording one of our new song is part of it…

Faust: And we have a show at The Mint LA on Thursday November 30th at 9:30PM. It is a nice venue that really corresponds to our style.

CC: Is there anything else you’d like to say to your fans or anyone that may be reading this interview at all?

Faust: Definitely go check out our EP ‘Wild World’ on Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, Amazon, etc! We are everywhere!

Charly: Continue to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and our official website! And if you don’t know us yet go check out our music! Come to see us live! We’ll have a drink together! Beers and red wine are the two things without we can’t live *laughs*
