Concert Crap: Hey, Late Night Fights, how’s it hanging?
Ryan Guanzon: Like a garden hose right after flushing out the rat holes in the back yard.
CC: You guys released your album Renal 911 last month. This album had a unique recording process. Can you explain to us (in plain words for people like me who have no clue what happens in the studio) what you did differently?
RG: We wanted to track the instruments live and get the energy to come through by not recording with a metronome. Also, we flew out to the glory hole capital of New York, West Babylon, to record at the incredibly handsome Korneff’s studio, Sonic Debris.
CC: Do you see yourself recording future albums the same way?
RG: Absolutely! The whole EP was done in a couple weeks time, which was a great way to capture the essence of the moment. It’s awesome not obsessing on the little things and just letting the songs build themselves how they want at the time.
CC: You draw influences from across the music spectrum. How would you characterize your music?
RG: Non-Binary Creamo Post-Barnyard Porn-Core. 2090’s Gunk Rock. Or whatever you think is probably better.
CC: What’s something not related to music that influenced your album the most?
RG: All of the songs are from personal experiences, or those of people close to me that really tore me up inside, or made me feel on top of the world. For example, “Prison” is about being trapped by your life being controlled by someone else (a boss, spouse, family member, the legal system) or your own mind internally.
CC: Where do you see the future of the band going?
RG: We are busting ass pushing the new album to radio and looking to tour our asses off! Also, we’re already writing on the next record.
CC: Anything else you’d like to add?
RG: Request us on your local rock station and let us know where you want us to play! We’re ready to party.
