Interview: Inside Look With BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA Fest Headliner Weed Demon

Weed Demon is a metal band that emerged from Columbus, Ohio debuting in 2015. The band is getting ready to play their last live stream gig of the year. I chatted up with the four horsemen of the stoner apocalypse about the origins of Weed Demon, Lemmy Kilmister, and tour life after headlining “Blunt Force Trauma” fest in this Concert Crap exclusive. The current lineup is Andy Center, Brain Buckley, Jordan Holland, and Nick Carter.

Concert Crap: Who is Weed Demon?

Weed Demon: Columbus, Ohio’s Sons of Midwestern Dankness. Also known as Andy, Jordan, Brian & Big Nick.

CC: What is the story behind stoner-rock? What is one of your favorite artists/bands from the genre?

Nick:  People wanted more fuzz, more riffs, more evil, more bad-ass, so they went out and made the music they wanted to hear. Call me basic but I’ll be worshiping Electric Wizard’s Dopethrone til the day I die.

Jordan: Sleep – Dopesmoker is my go-to when I want to do anything that takes an hour. It’s a classic and sets the bar for what modern stoner doom should sound like.

CC: You guys have a song called, “Damage Case.” What does Lemmy Kilmister mean to your band?

WD: Lemmy is the king bad-ass, simple as that. This is a cover of a Motörhead classic and the least we could do to pay tribute to the man who influenced so many in this genre.

CC: You are headlining “Blunt Force Trauma Fest,” is this your first performance since quarantine? And how does it feel to be back on stage?

WD: We have done a handful of live streams during quarantine. Working in the studio is fun but live on stage is where we do our thing. There’s nothing like playing for a crowd, you can’t substitute it. Blunt Force Trauma fest will be our final live stream performance and the icing on the cake. Time to get back to live shows and they are starting to take shape!!

CC: After releasing “Crater Maker,” does Weed Demon have plans to be back in the studio for another stone-y record in near future?

WD: We’ve been writing here and there, and we’re going to put out an EP before long with two or three new songs. Stay tuned for some new Demon in 2022!

CC: Is there anything you would like to share with Concert Crap?
