Concert Crap: What led to the formation of the band?

Michael Kepko: Back when I was in college something wasn’t sitting right in my life. I was going to Berkley for drums, but I needed to express more than only that which led me to start learning how to play piano, write songs, and sing. Two years later, here we are!

CC: What can you tell us about your release Conversations?

MK: Conversations, which is our newest album coming out on May 19th, 2017 is going to be our biggest album yet. The songs are heavier as well as more poppy than they’ve ever been. Everything we incorporate in our music has been enhanced. It’ll have 13 songs and in our opinion, every song could’ve been a single… if that means anything. Haha

CC: When did you discover music was your outlet?

MK: Whenever anything was wrong, whether mental or visually stressing, we’ve always just thrown on an album or played. It’s just simple as that.

CC: What advice do you have for anyone trying to get into the music industry?

MK: Write songs that are true to yourself and dream, as big as you can. Work hard and don’t stop until you’ve categorized yourself as successful.

CC: What was it like opening for Twenty One Pilots and AWOLNATION?

MK: Insane. Those guys are just super nice and to be able to play to that many people in our hometown was something we needed as a band.

CC: What do you think are the best and worst parts of being a musician?

MK: Being hypersensitive to your emotions. It can get dark, but that’s how some songs are born.

CC: Anything else you’d like to say to fans or anyone else reading this interview?

MK: I’m drinking a quad shot of espresso right now doing this interview. It’s awesome.
