Interview: Cane Hill’s Elijah Witt Talks New EP ‘Kill The Sun’

Recently I (Brooke Champine) sent over some interview questions to metal band Cane Hill about their new EP, ‘Kill The Sun’. Here’s what lead singer Elijah Witt had to say:

Concert Crap: Which song off from the album are you most proud of?

Elijah: Probably “Smoking Man” or “Save Me.” Both for the same reason. They’re super honest lyrics about the darkest moments in my life (or ours collectively as a band for “Smoking Man”) as well as they’re musically very WILD for us. “Save Me” is soft as hell but “Smoking Man is somehow really heavy for being an acoustic song. They really pushed us and our musical limitations to write.

Concert Crap: What was the inspiration to release an album that takes an entirely different direction and sound than previous music?

Elijah: If we didn’t do it now and prove we aren’t just a one trick metal pony, then people would be WAY more confused when we did it in five years. Really we just don’t see the logic in writing the same bullshit over and over again when we’re all exceptional musicians.

Concert Crap: What plans do you have for the band after the release of the new album?

Elijah: The usual: tour till we die and write until our brains fall out.

Concert Crap: Is there anything you wish you had done differently when making this album?

Elijah: Nah. Hindsight is a whole bitch and a waste of time and energy. We’re proud of what we made and have nothing but high expectations.

Concert Crap: What are you most looking forward to in 2019?

Elijah: Trump being one year closer to not being in office.

Concert Crap: Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Elijah: Hail Satan, smoke weed, buy our EP, Kill The Sun
