Hozier Serenades Raleigh On His ‘Unreal Unearth’ Tour!

Having just released his newest album Unreal Unearth, Irish singer-songwriter Hozier has gone back on tour to debut his latest record to thousands of adoring fans each night at venues across the country! This particular night in Raleigh hosted a sold-out show at the amphitheater where fans came out in droves to watch him perform. As the sun was rapidly setting, people filed into the venue and the excitement was palpable!

Madison Cunningham opened up the show and she came out onstage to roaring cheers as the crowd was more than ready to get warmed up with her! And she immediately captured the attention of the audience, dazzling them with her incredible vocals. She performed songs such as “All I’ve Ever Known“, “Hospital“, and “Life According to Raechel“, and blew the crowd away with each one!

And now it was time for the man everyone was waiting for! Hozier took to the stage and started off his set with “De Selby (Part 1)” and “De Selby (Part 2)“, serenading the crowd who was going crazy right off the bat. He then went into a couple of his older songs, performing “Jackie and Wilson” followed by “From Eden” and the fans loved every second of it, singing and dancing along all across the venue.

The audience participation was great! Not only did his backing band get the crowd to clap along with them during several songs, but Hozier encouraged the crowd’s singing along several times throughout the set, very notably during “To Be Alone“. One thing to note is that the crowd was actually singing! A chorus of gorgeous singing voices was heard all over the venue as the audience sang along to each and every song beautifully.

And of course, Hozier’s vocals were amazing as well, as to be expected! His performance of “Cherry Wine” in particular really showed it off, as he was the only one onstage during that song. The solo performance highlighted the fact that it was one of his first ever songs he released, and it made it a very intimate performance.

Not only that, but Hozier made sure to put a spotlight on each of his fellow musicians onstage! He shouted them all out several times throughout the set, and they each had little solos during “Almost (Sweet Music)“! This show was a true celebrating of musical talent, with all the different skillful musicians onstage showcasing many different instruments that made the whole show what it was!

Throughout the show, Hozier would bounce back and forth playing songs off of each of his three albums, and closer to the end of the night when he pulled out all the hit singles from those records, the audience loved every single one! “Eat Your Young“, the leading single off his latest album, was just as big a hit live as “Take Me To Church” was!

During the encore, he performed “Nina Cried Power” prefacing the song with the powerful story behind it which made the performance of the song hit even harder for the audience! Unsurprisingly, the final song of the evening was “Work Song” where he brought Madison Cunningham back onstage to help him close out the show! The crowd loved every second of it and after Hozier had left the stage there were smiles all around the venue.
