Countdown to Rebel Rock - Day One Preview

The countdown to Rebel Rock 2021 has begun. In less than a month over 60 musical acts will take the stage at the inaugural festival set to take place on September 23 – 26, 2021 in sunny Orlando, Fl. The festival sponsored by Monster Energy, Deep Eddy’s Vodka, and Liquid Death Mountain Water and produced by Stage Left Entertainment will be hosted by Sirius XM’s Jose “Metal Ambassador” Mangin.

The Thursday schedule was recently released. Twelve bands are slated to perform on two stages starting in the early afternoon and rocking until late into the evening.

It’s hard to single out a selection from such a great lineup, but here are a trio of bands to look forward to seeing perform.

Volbeat

Headlining the day’s schedule is Volbeat. If you are in the mood for some hip-swaying, hairy tossing action, then this is the band for you. Imagine Elvis doing a time jump into the future and landing in a metal band. That would be Volbeat . Their musical style combines an exciting blend of rock, heavy metal, and rockabilly that will get your feet moving. The Danish rock band was formed in 2001 in Copenhagen and includes Michael Poulsen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Jon Larsen (drums), Rob Caggiano (lead guitar, backing vocals), Kasper Boye Larsen (bass, backing vocals).

P.O.D.

This is a band that will get you hopping with your fists in the air and bumping around in a mosh pit. P.O.D. (Payable On Death) is one of the most musically diverse bands performing at the festival. Their sound over the years have crossed over multiple genres including alternative rock, reggae rock, rap metal, nu metal and Latin-influenced metal. The band has been around since 1992 and consists of Wuv Bernardo (drummer / rhythm guitar), Sonny Sandoval (vocals), Traa Daniels (bass), and Marcos Curiel (lead guitar). Over the years they have sold over 12 million records and received three Grammy Award nominations. They like to avoid being labeled, but this is a group from the streets with a message.

Greyhaven

Greyhaven is a progressive metalcore band which pushes its creativity to the limit with its own unique assortment of hard driving guitar riffs and licks. This is a band striving for its own identity with a chaotic sound you won’t hear from any other band. Their sophomore album Empty Black is a good listen which has received positive reviews. The band comprised of Brent Mills (vocals), Nick Spencer (guitar), Johnny Muench (bass), and Ethan Spray (drums) originates from Louisville, Ky. Greyhaven’s music is born from the struggles of the area which fuel their music.
