Concert Review: The Regrettes Come Through The Observatory in Santa Ana, California

Who – Come Through Tour: The Regrettes, Mt. Eddy, Destroy Boys

Where – The Observatory, Santa Ana, California

When – June 28, 2018

On June 28th, The Regrettes brought the Come Through tour to the Constellation Room at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA. The show was sold out and the crowd was very excited to be there.

Sacramento based band, Destroy Boys opened the show. They had a very high energy set and were able to get the crowd warmed up quickly. I was really impressed by them! They just released a new EP in April, which I can’t wait to check out.

Next up was Mt. Eddy, they definitely seemed to be a fan favorite based on the reactions from the crowd. Their set was full of people crowd surfing, stage diving, and a lot of singing. They played some older songs and new songs like “Metaphor” from their new album Chroma.

The Regrettes took the stage, lead singer Lydia tipped her cowboy hat at the crowd, took it off and went into the first song, “I Don’t Like You”. For the rest of the set they jumped around playing almost every song off of their debut album Feel Your Feelings Fool.

The highlights of the bands set for me came toward the end of the set. The Regrettes ended the night by covering a classic song, “Ballroom Blitz”. The crowd had been energetic throughout the night but the energy level went up a notch during this song. The best part was when the crowd was asked to split into two sections and sing as loud as they could. When the band began the last verse of the song, the two sides ran together to create one giant mosh pit.

For the encore, The Regrettes brought the members of Mt. Eddy and Destroy Boys back on stage to sing “Dancing With Myself” by Billy Idol. Jakob Armstrong from Mt. Eddy and Lydia both switched off singing each verse while also dancing around the stage. At one point Lydia jumped off the stage and went crowd surfing, which looked really fun.

The Regrettes brought a really fun show to The Observatory and for a band with only one album and one EP out, they packed their set with a ton of songs. For a bunch of teenagers, The Regrettes are kicking butt. If you have a chance to see them, make sure you wear some dancing shoes because you won’t want to miss this.
