About three years ago I saw Movements open for Basement at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California. They were still a local band at the time but I thought they were so good and I started listening to them after that. Fast forward to June 9, 2017 when they played a sold out headline show at Chain Reaction in Anaheim.
The night began with four opening bands, Modern Color, Northbound, Momentum and In Her Own Words. All the opening bands really helped get the crowd pumped and moving around by the time Movements took the stage.They opened their set with “Kept” and immediately everyone in the crowd was singing along. Movements kept the night going by playing songs like “Vacant Home”,“Protection” and “Nineteen” and a few more.
The coolest moments of the night were when the band played a new song and a song from their EP Outgrown Things called “Losing Fight”. I don’t think they had a name for the new song but lead singer Patrick said the song was about knowing someone with Alzheimers. It was a really cool sounding song and I can’t wait to hear it on the new album when it comes out. “Losing Fight” was the last song of the show. Not only was this song really amazing to hear live but the crowd during this song really had a lot of energy. The song was sung word for word by the crowd and people even got up on stage and sang along with Patrick.
To see how much Movements has progressed since I saw them as a local band is amazing. They were truly happy to be up there on stage playing their music for that many people. This band has so much potential and I can’t wait to see where they are in another 3 years.
