Best albums of 2016 – Part 2

Best Albums of 2016:

Pierce the Veil – Misadventures

I think this album had far exceeded my expectations. I may be a little biased since they are one of my favorite bands, but I loved that this new album still paid homage to earlier works. They’ve definitely stepped up their game, kicked it up a notch and the wait was well worth it!

Like Pacific – Distant Like You Asked

I first saw Like Pacific at a very small show with Forever Came Calling. They put on such a great live performance; I checked them out and followed them when this album was released. Their lyrics pack a punch, as well as their craftsmanship. A very well put together album that is worth checking out. I know these guys will be big one day!

Moose Blood – Blush

I was highly anticipating a follow up from their acclaimed I’ll Keep You in Mind from Time to Time, and needless to say I wasn’t disappointed. Beautifully somber lyrics accompanied by upbeat music, and this album has such a unique tone to it.

A Day to Remember – Bad Vibrations

This release blew me away. With breakneck pace, and catchy riffs, A Day to Remember definitely can still deliver the package. For an independently released album, it’s so well put together and it never loses its momentum. A great album for those who either have been longtime fans, or are just discovering them.

Panic! At the Disco – Death of a Bachelor

I haven’t really listened to much of Panic! since I saw them on the “Save Rock and Roll” tour oh so long ago. But I listened to this on a whim, and I’m glad I did. A heartfelt, and soulful concept album that smoothly flows track to track. Brendon Urie’s voice is reminiscent of Sinatra, and it fits the tone of the album perfectly. Grateful I gave this one a chance!

Best Comeback:

Green Day – Revolution Radio

To me, I felt Green Day fell off the map after the release of  ¡Uno…Dos…Tre! and Demolicious, and I was hoping that they’d come back with something with more of a kick. When Revolution Radio came out, it was everything I was hoping it would be. Politically charged and unapologetic, the album also has a smooth change of pace when it slows down but reels you in when it goes fast. It has such a nostalgic, yet new sound to it that it can appeal to both new and old fans.

Most Surprising:

Mac Miller – The Divine Feminine

I think what surprised me the most about this album was the change of style. This album, in comparison to his old work, has a heavier R&B and jazz influence. Mac Miller had some heavy lyrics before, but some of the verses on this album really impressed me, and it was a step up. I never would have expected him to have more singing on an album than rap, but I was pleasantly surprised with how well this album is put together and how it sounds.
