South Korean-born, Bay area-raised artist AZRA released her new EP, The Chronicles of Substance Pop: The Rebellion, on July 28th. The singer now based out of Los Angeles creates her own genre “Substance Pop” which is influenced by pop, rock, dance, and metal with heavy 808 beats. The EP’s first single “ALL Out” gained airplay on KROQ in February and remained in the rotation.

The singer may be Korean born but don’t confuse her with K-Pop artists. While her early music was pop heavy, the songs on the new EP have her shifting to more of a pop rock and pop rock sound. “ALL OUT” is a bold, empowering self-love anthem and a reminder to live your life fearlessly. “i wish you would cry” is a love letter to ourselves begging in our darkest moments to find the courage to face our demons and honor whatever feelings that follow. “Bring Me The Crown” is a vibrant pop-rock anthem oozing in confidence that encourages you to hold your head high and wear your crown proudly. The final track, “Soul Ties” is a nod to her Korean heritage that features AZRA singing in both Korean and English, that delves into her journey immigrating from Korea to America as a child and finding the people in your life that want to lift you up and want to be around you.

Speaking on the EP, AZRA shares, “When people listen to this EP, I want them to forget about how things are ‘supposed to be’ and realize they have the power to make their own path in life and embrace that journey, because being authentic is the greatest rebellion.

AZRA held her EP release party at Hotel Cafe in LA where she kicked off her tour West Coast tour with support from The Egos. She will be making stops in San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, Portland and Seattle. Tickets are available HERE
