When I heard that indie-rock artist Jenny Lewis was going on tour with Harry Styles, I knew that I had to check her music out. Surely, anyone who tours with the legendary Harry Styles must be pretty extravagant themselves. Needless to say, I listened in, and I was impressed.
“Red Bull & Hennessy”, off her 2019 album On The Line, was the first song that really got my attention. There’s a calming, old school feeling to her music, something that I could picture my mom listening to in the car that I was younger. The reason why I say this (which is a good thing by the way!) is because when I was listening to this song, I was flashbacking to my younger self biking up and down the street on a hot summer day, then going for a drive with my mom to go get ice cream.
Other songs to check out that I immediately fell in love with are “Hollywood Lawn”, “The New You”, and “On The Line”.
Perhaps Jenny doesn’t intend for her music to draw you in with a nostalgic feeling, but that’s what it does for me, and what led me to really love and appreciate her music.
After listening to Jenny’s music initially, it was clear why Harry brought her out on tour with him. She fits his vibe perfectly- fashionably, and musically.
