Not gonna lie, I thought Vault 51’s album Kid was going to be boring and sickly sweet. I was horribly wrong. This album is brutal, eye-opening, and good. It gets you right in the feels while at the same time really makes you feel alive.
“Thirty Six” is a great track. There’s a good mix of both singing and growling, plus the music helps develop the storyline that’s being sung. It’s a tie between that and “Magnolia” for my favorite song. I love how clearly you can hear the little bit on the keys in “Magnolia” and the lyrics just really strike a chord. From start to finish, I really just love this one. One of the best moments on this album, what I think was a stroke of pure genius, is in the ending of “Mourning View,” where you can hear the rainfall. It’s such a small moment, but it made the album.
Kid, out July 20, will make you feel all the feels and is an album you will not easily forget.
