Based in Moscow, Russia, REMARK released their debut self-titled LP in January 2016. REMARK is a very strong album from the first note to the last.
The album has a very good balance between heavier, faster songs, to slower, softer tracks, and even all-in-one in certain tracks such as “Vesna.” The transition from slow and soft to fast and hard is done properly; it doesn’t feel like you’re being dropped off a cliff. REMARK knows when it’s time to bring it down, but they also know when it’s time to go hard and headbang and they do it very well.
The strength of REMARK lies in its band members. Each band member is just as strong as the other, which creates an amazing balance between the vocals, guitar, drums, and bass. There is never an instance of one element overshadowing another; the different elements blend beautifully. Even with a guitar solo, such as the one in “Believe,” the other elements know exactly how to work together to provide that even harmony.
It’s hard to believe that REMARK is REMARK’s first release. The album sounds like it was recorded by rock veterans in the prime of their career. Although they may not be veterans yet, REMARK is well on their way to being one of the top rock bands out there.
