Whoever says they don’t need Daemonolatry Gnosis in their life is lying; they need it and they need it NOW. Dawn of Ashes has come out with a brutally heavy album and it is necessary. Maybe you really don’t think you need this album in your life, but that’s only because you don’t know what you’re missing. The vocals on this album are as dark as you could ever hope to hear. Daemonolatry Gnosis also has great instrumentation throughout; “Guardians” and “Core of the Black Sun” are just two examples of this. The music is very symphonic, which seems like it would contrast with the intense vocals, but actually provides a contrast that enhances everything; it’s the music equivalent of salty and sweet.
Some of the most exciting songs on this album are “Freezing Moon,” Dawn of Ashes’ cover of Mayhem’s song, and “Magick For The New Aeon” featuring Lindsay Schoolcraft. All 12 songs on this album are the perfect accompaniment to a heavily packed pit featuring a sea of banging heads and the biggest circle pit you could imagine.
