Album Review: Bobaflex – “Eloquent Demons”

Bobaflex Eloquent Demons CD cover new

Bobaflex’s latest album Eloquent Demons rocks. Its high energy is perfect if you love to move with the music; it’s also full of choruses you’ll be singing at the top of your lungs in your car or in your house. “I Am A Nightmare” is a great example from this album. Its pace is almost punishingly fast, especially with the drums towards the end of the song. I really like the little guitar solo in it, as well. “Long Time Coming” is one of my favorite songs on this album. There are little bits and pieces that slow the speed down a little bit, which makes you appreciate the stronger parts of the song even more because of the contrast. The “oh my god” that repeats over and over becomes this mantra that I just can’t stop singing; I even try to insert it into a few other songs, but they don’t sound the same.

I really appreciate that most of the songs on this album just start heavy and fast from the first note. They also keep the same pace throughout the song which creates continuity; you don’t get that weird “is the song over” feeling. I was a little bit confused when I heard “Off With Your Head,” because it starts so soft and quiet in comparison to the rest of the album that I thought I was listening to a commercial at first. It’s a good song and I really like it, but it threw me off a little. Then the guitar starts in and this turned into my favorite song to sing along with. “Moon and the Shadows” gets extra points just for including that howl right at the beginning.

There’s really strong drums throughout the album as well as a screaming, howling guitar. The vocals are gritty, rough, and totally rock n’ roll. Eloquent Demons is an interesting album that’s best when it’s played at full volume.
