Atlanta has no shortage of incredible shows passing through, but few capture the kind of energy and magic that filled the Buckhead Theatre when Wolf Alice took the stage for the very first night of ‘The Clearing Tour,‘ supporting their brand-new album The Clearing’. The sold-out venue was already buzzing with anticipation, humming with an energy that only grew as the night went on. Fans pressed forward, eyes fixed on the stage, eagerly awaiting that first note to drop.

When the lights dimmed, the roar that followed was instantaneous. The band walked out to thunderous applause, and without hesitation, they launched into “Thorns,” the first track of the new album. The stage had a mystical feel, with the silhouette of lead singer Ellie Rowsell illuminated by the white lights behind her, creating the perfect visual to match the flowing and calming tone of the song. The mood quickly shifted from serenity to pure amplified energy when they started the drum intro to fan favorite and rarely played live “Your Love’s Whore” from their debut album My Love Is Cool. Ellie’s presence was captivating and spellbinding—equal parts effortless cool and raw vulnerability. Her voice moved like a force of nature, floating delicately one moment and tearing through the air the next, always commanding attention.

The night continued with a mixture of new tracks like Bloom Baby Bloom,” Just Two Girls,” and live debuts of Leaning Against the Wall and Bread Butter Tea Sugar,” alongside fan favorites and deeper cuts like The Sofa,” Bros,” and an unbelievable intro to Giant Peach featuring parts of “Seven Nation Army” and “Iron Man” mixed in. What makes Wolf Alice live so unforgettable is their ability to balance contrast. The dreamy moments that wrap you up in a haze of sound, only to be shattered seconds later by walls of distortion and unrelenting rhythm. The band thrives in those shifts, creating a rollercoaster of emotion that kept the audience hooked from start to finish. Every song felt like its own world, yet each flowed seamlessly into the next, leaving no time to come down before the next surge hit.

The band closed the night with the immensely popular hits “Moaning Lisa Smile” and “Don’t Delete The Kisses” which has been streamed over 144 million times by fans world wide. It was clear to not only me, but everyone in the room this wasn’t just a first night to their tour—it was the perfect way to set the tone for everything ahead. Wolf Alice didn’t just perform; they immersed us in their universe. Walking out of the Buckhead Theatre, you couldn’t help but feel that this was one of those shows that will stick with you long after the lights fade and the amps quiet down.

About Scott Zambito 25 Articles
I’m a concert photographer based in Atlanta, GA, with deep roots in music. I grew up behind a drum kit, and that rhythm-first mindset still fuels everything I do. Being both a musician and a photographer gives me a unique edge when I’m shooting live shows—I can feel the energy shifts, anticipate the beats, and capture those split-second moments that define a performance. Whether I’m in the pit or backstage, I’m always chasing the shot that tells the story. I don’t just photograph shows—I live them. Some of my favorite bands include Deftones, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Incubus, and Tool—many of which feature some of my all-time favorite drummers.
