Folk-pop artist Violette Rain has spent 2025 releasing one song each month, steadily building a devoted fan base. Now, she unveils the culmination of that journey: her debut album, Charting the Stars in Her Eyes, out today. Alongside the reveal, is the album’s twelfth and final track, “My Little Heart Locket,” which Violette says is a tribute to her grandmother.

“Most of the album is wrapped in metaphor, history, and myth, with stories told like riddles for listeners to unravel. In “Little Heart Locket,” the album’s closing track, I strip away the metaphors to share a tribute to my grandmother, who to me, embodied the wonder of Yuletide magic, bringing warmth to every Winter. Writing this song was cathartic; it feels like coming home for the holidays after a long journey, a bittersweet end to the year with memories of Christmases past, present, and those to come.”

Throughout the year, Violette has released tracks that correlate with each season. For instance, February’s “Courtly Love,” or October’s “Follow the Crows.” Speaking about the choice to release one song per month, Violette says she wanted the album to reflect, “the tender ache of spring’s first blooms, to summer’s heady, uncontainable emotions, to the quiet weight of autumn and winter.” Ultimately, Charting the Stars in Her Eyesis a deeply intentional exploration of memory, grief, and emotional growth, with each song capturing a unique moment in time, making for an immersive listening experience that mirrors the natural rhythm of the year.
