The Maine Bring the Chaos to Kesselhaus in Berlin

Kesselhaus was already buzzing by the time Philadelphia-based band Grayscale took the stage, opening the night for The Maine. They came out with plenty of energy and got the crowd warmed up, even throwing in a cover of The Beatles’ “Twist and Shout” along the way — an easy way to get an already excited room singing along.

Then it was time for The Maine.

And honestly, “energetic” almost doesn’t cover it.

The Maine hit the stage with an energy that never really let up. Playing Kesselhaus for the first time, the band immediately made the room feel like their own, constantly moving around the stage and feeding off the crowd. There was a noticeable lack of distance between the band and the people in front of them, with John O’Callaghan regularly interacting with fans and making his way toward the audience.

One of the biggest moments of the night came when O’Callaghan got down into the crowd and sang with a fan who was celebrating her birthday. It was spontaneous, personal and exactly the kind of moment that makes a live show feel different from simply watching a band perform from the stage.

And that connection with the crowd continued throughout the night. The Maine were constantly engaging with people, keeping the audience involved and giving them plenty of reasons to sing, move and lose themselves in the show.

The set included songs such as “I Think About You All the Time,” “Right Girl,” and “Bad Behavior,” among others.

For their first time playing Kesselhaus, The Maine certainly didn’t treat it like unfamiliar territory. They brought an explosive live energy, plenty of interaction and a genuine sense of connection with the Berlin crowd.

By the end of the night, it was clear that this was a room The Maine had no problem making their own.
