Indie-Pop artist Taylor Castro just dropped her latest single and video, “Coffee Eyes“. Castro is a 21-year-old singer, songwriter, and actress hailing from South Florida. She is known for her roles in the Lifetime movies Girlfriend Killer and Marriage Killer. Her debut album, Pure, was released in 2018.
“Coffee Eyes” is the fourth song from her upcoming album, Girl Afraid. All songs on the album were written by Castro. The first three songs “Girl Afraid“, “Abyss“, and “Be OK” show a more soulful Taylor. However, with “Coffee Eyes” she goes into full dance mode. The song gradually builds in intensity culminating with an up-tempo chorus with catchy lyrics. Castro recalls “’Coffee Eyes’ actually started when I thought about what the opposite of “Ocean Eyes” by Billie Eilish would sound like. I’m so excited for it to come out. It’s such a fun one, and the video is my aesthetic coffee shop/steampunk dreams come true!”
Castro possesses a powerful voice. While listening to the tracks from Girl Afraid, I tried to think of another musical artist for comparison. The singer I came up with was Christina Aguilera. This tells me that Castro is certainly an artist to keep an eye on. Check her out at the links below.
