Tampa Death Fest returns to the legendary Brass Mug for its eighth annual edition on September 4–5, 2026, bringing two nights of underground death metal and extreme music to a city with one of the richest histories in the genre.
This year’s festival pairs newer underground acts with veteran bands whose careers reach back to some of death and thrash metal’s formative years.

Friday, September 4 features Syndicate, Eroguro Phantasmagore, Homicyde, Unholy Disciple, Leprosy, Sacrilous, Viogression, and Foreverless.
The festival continues Saturday, September 5 with Grave Filth, Ramtha, Gouted Corpse, Coathanger Abortion, Sapraemia, Gangrenesia from Puerto Rico, Must Not Kill, and Tampa veterans Nasty Savage closing out the weekend.
At the top of the bill is Nasty Savage, a band whose history is closely connected to the development of Tampa’s metal scene. Formed in the early 1980s and fronted by Nasty Ronnie, the group developed an aggressive and technically adventurous mixture of traditional heavy metal, speed metal, and thrash. Their early work arrived as Florida’s underground was beginning its transformation into one of the most important centers for extreme metal in the world.

Friday brings another veteran name in Viogression. Formed in Wisconsin during the late 1980s, the band emerged from the first wave of American death metal and developed a sound built around dense riffing and the raw aggression characteristic of the genre’s early underground years. Their presence gives Friday’s lineup a direct connection to death metal’s formative era.

Also appearing Friday is Leprosy, adding another dose of old-school death metal to the opening night. With a sound rooted in the genre’s traditional combination of heavy riffing, aggression, and underground aesthetics, the band fits naturally alongside Viogression and the younger acts filling out Friday’s bill.

On Saturday, Ramtha brings its own distinctly heavy approach to the festival. Combining elements of death metal with a dark, aggressive atmosphere, the band adds another dimension to a lineup that moves across several corners of the extreme-metal underground.

Saturday also features Coathanger Abortion, whose approach sits firmly at the brutal end of the death-metal spectrum. Built around crushing riffs, guttural vocals, and an intentionally abrasive sound, the band represents the uncompromising side of American underground death metal.
Puerto Rico’s Gangrenesia adds an international presence to the weekend, highlighting the reach extreme metal has developed far beyond the regional scenes that initially helped establish it.
