Beartooth @ Summer of Loud Fest Atlanta GA

Summer of Loud lived up to its name in Atlanta, delivering a stacked lineup and an energy level that hit overdrive from the very first note. The weather was scorching, and the music slammed into your chest like a sledgehammer, leaving you breathless. It was a full-on assault of headbanging, searing guitars, pounding bass drums, and raw, screaming vocals—everything a hard rock fan craves.

TX2 opened the day and wasted no time waking the crowd up. Full of energy, angst, and chaos — it was the perfect jolt to start things off. Alpha Wolf followed with a crushing set that leaned into straight-up brutality. No frills, just riffs and rage. Their sound hit hard and the pit responded.

The Devil Wears Prada came next and kept the energy high. The energy and volume was only matched by the amount of crowd surfers that poured over the barricade. The Amity Affliction shifted the tone a bit but still brought power and energy packed into every note. Their change of pace melodic edge mixed well with the heaviness, and the crowd sent the same power and energy right back.

Parkway Drive came out swinging and never let up. With intense pyro, dynamic lighting, and Winston’s commanding stage presence, their set felt like a headline tour stop rather than just a festival slot. Pyrotechnics flooded the stage while drummer Ben Gordon channeled his inner Tommy Lee, strapped into a rotating drum set that was set ablaze. The power of Parkway Drive wasn’t just in their music—it was in the full visual experience they immersed the crowd in.

I Prevail was next up in what had already proven to be a powerful lineup, and they showed why they remain a top name in modern hard rock. The band had strong command of the stage—Eric Vanlerberghe moved with purpose, unleashing powerful lyrics through a blend of melodic and snarling vocals. The band’s aggressive energy, tight musical prowess, and unmatched crowd engagement kept fans expelling every ounce of energy they had.

Beartooth turned the entire amphitheater on its head, and organized chaos reigned over the crowd. Caleb Shomo was non-stop, matching every ounce of energy from the crowd as circle pits and walls of death ensued. Raw and aggressive, they tore through each song like a band with something to prove—and prove it they did. Beartooth gave every ounce of energy they had to a performance that will resonate with everyone in attendance for a long time.

Killswitch Engage closed the night with a masterclass in metalcore. Jesse Leach moved across the stage with a purpose that could only be described as a take-no-prisoners attitude. From the first note that cut through the heavy summer air, you knew this was going to be a no-nonsense, adrenaline-pumping, bass-drum-in-the-chest performance that would have any room full of metalheads screaming every word. It felt like a proper finale to a day that never once let its foot off the gas.

Summer of Loud wasn’t just a festival — it was a gathering of metal and hard rock fans who came to head bang, crowd surf, mosh, and leave partially def from the warzone of sound, sweat, and chaos. No breaks and non stop energy were the currency of the day and these fans left paid in full. Just straight power from start to finish.

About Scott Zambito 26 Articles
I’m a concert photographer based in Atlanta, GA, with deep roots in music. I grew up behind a drum kit, and that rhythm-first mindset still fuels everything I do. Being both a musician and a photographer gives me a unique edge when I’m shooting live shows—I can feel the energy shifts, anticipate the beats, and capture those split-second moments that define a performance. Whether I’m in the pit or backstage, I’m always chasing the shot that tells the story. I don’t just photograph shows—I live them. Some of my favorite bands include Deftones, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Incubus, and Tool—many of which feature some of my all-time favorite drummers.
