PHOTOS: The dreamy, electronic pop rock duo Phantogram plays Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom

Phantogram

The Running Through Colors tour comes after Phantogram released their fifth studio album, Memory of a Day, on October 18, 2024 via Neon Gold Records

Phantogram stopped in Chicago on February 14th and played to a diverse crowd of long-time fans and couples having a night out for Valentine’s Day. What better way to celebrate than with the New York duo and lifelong friends Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter, both of whom are multi-instrumentalists and vocalists in the band.

They played many songs off their new album at the Aragon Ballroom, including the singles “It Wasn’t Meant to Be”, “All a Mystery”, “Happy Again” and “Come Alive”.

Of course, plenty of fan favorites from previous albums were performed, including “Run Run Blood”, “Mouthful of Diamonds”, “Black Out Days” and more.

Every song brings forth a sense of melancholic nostalgia, between the hazy guitar riffs and synths that command all your senses’ attention. With varying themes of love and self-reflection, the beautifully haunting melodies whisked me away into an emotional dream-like state that could best be described as a spacey lucid dream that you never want to wake up from.

You cannot simply watch Phantogram perform; you experience them.
