Who: Soccer Mommy
Where: The Fillmore San Francisco, California
When: February 28, 2025
Soccer Mommy, AKA Sophie Allison, mesmerized the crowd on the first of two nights in San Francisco.
It was an entrancing experience, a large floral mural loomed over the stage with flowers and bouquets sprinkled around. The crowd’s undivided attention was held firm the second Soccer Mommy stepped on the stage. The lights dimmed and the crowd cheered loudly as the band came onstage and instantly was silenced as the music picked up and Allison began singing. It was as if they were entranced, softly swaying and dancing while singing under hushed breathe. Everyone living in the moment and soaking in the music.
Soccer Mommy’s set bounced between old songs and new. She first opened with “Abigail”, a song off her latest album Evergreen, before transitioning into another more recent song “circle the drain.” A song with a bit more of a pop/upbeat undertone, and a fan favorite. She’d continue to flawlessly transition through her discography and set, and finally reached the end and played another fan hit “Your Dog.”
Soccer Mommy is a breathtaking show with amazing instrumentals, and even better vocals. It’s as if you stepped right into the tracks and studio itself, with the live music being indistinguishable from it’s recordings. Soccer Mommy is a gifted songwriter and musician, and a special act to see live.
