Originally scheduled for February 28, 2025, Lauren Mayberry finally concludes the Vicious Creatures tour with a makeup show in San Francisco.
Known primarily as the lead singer of the band CHVRCHES, Lauren Mayberry debuted her solo career in December 2024 with the release of the album Vicious Creature. Fans of the band have shown their dedication since by supporting the album as well as the tour. The Filmore was packed and buzzing in anticipation, especially with the additional wait the SF show went through.
The show kicked off immediately with dazzling purple lights and the crowd roaring. The band one by one slowly walked on stage, with Mayberry taking center stage to grab the microphone and a vintage telephone prop for a performance of “Crocodile Tears.” Mayberry’s voice, theatrics, and energetic stage presence was on full display immediately. She danced and skipped around the stage throughout her performance.
Another highlight of the show was during the performance of “Something In the Air.” Prior to the song Mayberry connected with the audience by commenting on the political climate of the UK and US which influenced the song. She ended with a loud “F*ck Trump” before launching into the song with her prop megaphone.
The crowd was enthusiastic and engaged the entire show, loving every second of it. The talk of the show which had everyone mumbling excitedly as they left was Mayberry’s hints at a new CHVRCHES record on the way and studio work currently being done. The concert was worth the wait, but fans will have to wait restlessly until a new CHVRCHES record is in their hands.
