On a warm summer Georgia night, two of modern rock’s most electrifying acts came together for a show that was equal parts fire and finesse. Volbeat brought their “Greatest of All Tours Worldwide” to Ameris Bank Amphitheatre, and with powerhouse support from Halestorm, it felt like a celebration of rock’s versatility and staying power. From Halestorm’s gritty, high-octane opening to Volbeat’s genre-bending, riff-heavy headlining set, the night catered to fans of raw power, thunderous guitars, and the energy that only a heavy metal concert can bring.

Halestorm wasted no time igniting the stage. Lzzy Hale’s voice cut through the muggy air like a siren, leading the charge through a fiery set that included hits like “Love Bites (So Do I),” “Freak Like Me,” and the emotional “Familiar Taste of Poison.” Their performance balanced snarling guitars and thunderous drums with the vocals and presence of the amazing Lzzy Hale. Whether commanding the crowd from center stage or shredding with her bandmates during “Rain Your Blood on Me,” Hale proved once again that she’s one of the most dynamic front-women in rock today.

When Volbeat took the stage, they brought a different kind of intensity with a sound rooted in heavy metal with tinges of punk, rockabilly, and even storytelling folk. Kicking off with the crowd favorite “The Devil’s Bleeding Crown,” the band quickly found its groove and never let up. Volbeat paid tribute to the man in black himself none other than Johnny Cash playing “Ring of Fire” as an opening to “Sad Man’s Tongue.” Songs like “Lola Montez” and “Shotgun Blues” had the audience singing along, while deeper cuts like “In the Barn of the Goat Giving Birth to Satan’s Spawn in a Dying World of Doom” (truly a mouthful) made the night an evening no one will soon forget. Volbeat leaned into their weird, wild identity—and the fans loved every second of it.

Throughout the night, the contrast between the two bands created a perfect balance: Halestorm brought the feral energy, while Volbeat layered on swagger, melody, and strange charm. Michael Poulsen’s vocals were as strong as ever, riding atop crisp guitar work and a tight rhythm section that never faltered. The transitions between songs were seamless, the pacing spot-on, and the production—complete with moody lighting and roaring sound—amplified every moment.
Volbeat, like so many other bands have felt the influence of the great Ozzy Osborne and Black Sabbath and paid tribute to the late Godfather of heavy metal with a stirring cover of “Children of the Grave” and then closed the amazing night with “Still Counting” and were joined on stage by some of the younger Volbeat fans for an experience of a lifetime. Together, Halestorm and Volbeat gave Atlanta a performance that blended heart, humor, and heaviness—a reminder of why live rock still thrives in 2025. It wasn’t just a concert; it was a full-bodied experience, built on decades of passion and a shared love for loud, unapologetic rock and roll and reminded us all why music is the life blood of our lives.
