It’s not every day you get to hear a landmark album played front to back—but on Tuesday night, Disturbed didn’t just revisit ‘The Sickness‘, they detonated it live in Atlanta. Twenty-five years after that debut shook the system, they rolled into Gas South Arena with something to prove: that the fire still burns—and burns hot.

The night kicked off with Nothing More, and they wasted no time firing up the crowd at Gas South Arena, launching their set with the hard-hitting House on Sand.” Frontman Jonny Hawkins delivered a raw, emotional performance, backed by the explosive energy of guitarist Mark Vollelunga, bassist Daniel Oliver, and drummer Ben Anderson. Highlights like If It Doesn’t Hurt and FREEFALL showcased the band’s ability to balance heavy riffs with soaring melodies, while Jenny had the entire crowd singing along in one of the night’s most powerful moments.

Closing with the haunting Angel Song,” Nothing More left a lasting impression that felt far bigger than a typical opening act. With their signature blend of intensity and undeniable chemistry, they proved they’re not just warming up stages — they’re building their own unstoppable momentum.

Next up Daughtry delivered a powerhouse performance igniting the crowd with a set full of intensity and heart. Kicking off with the hard-hitting “The Reckoning” and “Changes Are Coming,” Chris Daughtry immediately commanded the stage, setting a bold tone for the night. Midway through the set, he captivated the audience with a soulful, acoustic rendition of “Home,” offering a raw, emotional break in the energy. The band also surprised fans with a faithful and passionate cover of Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart),” which had the entire arena singing along.
Later in the set, Daughtry kept the momentum strong with crowd favorites like “It’s Not Over” and the powerful anthem “Heavy Is the Crown.” His performance of “World on Fire” showcased both his vocal grit and the band’s polished edge. After heartfelt band introductions, they closed with “Artificial,” leaving the audience energized and ready for Disturbed’s headlining set. It was a perfect mix of nostalgia, fresh material, and emotional connection that set the bar high for the night.

Then the lights dropped—and that chilling whisper, “Can you feel that?”, echoed through the arena. David Draiman was wheeled out Hannibal Lecter-style, straight into Voices, and from there, Disturbed ripped through ‘The Sickness‘ in its original album order.

Stupify, The Game, and Down With the Sickness were pure chaos—in the best way. The crowd was screaming every word, fists in the air, feeding off every riff and breakdown. Even 25 years later, those songs still carry the same feral energy that made them anthems in the first place.

After tearing through the full album, they pivoted straight into a greatest hits set that didn’t let off the gas for a second. Ten Thousand Fists turned the entire arena into a synchronized riot. Indestructible and Inside the Fire hit with the kind of weight only Disturbed can bring live—tight, pounding, and massive.

Their take on Genesis’ “Land of Confusion landed like it always does—somehow heavier than the original but still faithful. And when they dropped The Sound of Silence, the whole place got quiet in that rare, goosebumps kind of way—haunting, cinematic, and powerful as hell.

Disturbed didn’t just celebrate ‘The Sickness‘—they reminded everyone why that record (and this band) still stands tall in the metal world. This wasn’t a nostalgia trip—it was a victory lap at full throttle.

About Scott Zambito 10 Articles
I’m a concert photographer based in Atlanta, GA, with deep roots in music. I grew up behind a drum kit, and that rhythm-first mindset still fuels everything I do. Being both a musician and a photographer gives me a unique edge when I’m shooting live shows—I can feel the energy shifts, anticipate the beats, and capture those split-second moments that define a performance. Whether I’m in the pit or backstage, I’m always chasing the shot that tells the story. I don’t just photograph shows—I live them. Some of my favorite bands include Deftones, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Incubus, and Tool—many of which feature some of my all-time favorite drummers.
