When AJR took the stage, they delivered a set brimming with energy and heartfelt hooks, opening with “Way Less Sad” before diving into “Karma,” “Yes I’m a Mess,” and an infectious blend of crowd-familiar tracks. They deftly threaded newer material with beloved classics—”World’s Smallest Violin,” (With help from the crowd) “Inertia,” (Ryan Acoustic Solo) “Way Less Sad,” and “Sober Up“—all landing with the same mix of polished musicianship and joyful unpredictability.

Throughout the set, AJR’s out-of-the-blue theatricality proved a highlight. They interspersed “Wow, I’m Not Crazy,” “Come Hang Out,” “I’m Not Famous,” “I’m Ready,” “Break My Face,” and “Finale (Can’t Wait to See What You Do Next)” as a multi-part suite that turned the venue into a sing-along spectacle. Which was just another testament to the AJR’s knack for storytelling.

As the night progressed, each song landed with precision—powerful choruses, tight instrumentation, and an underlying confessional energy. When “Weak” closed the set, the band was joined on stage by a marching band that further proved that when AJR performs they leave nothing to the imagination. The applause and chants from the packed crowd left no doubt: the concert wasn’t just a show, but an experience cementing AJR’s reputation as a modern indie-pop powerhouse.

AJR’s performance at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre was a vibrant narrative, tying together their knack for theatrical pop with a clear love for connecting to their audience. The setlist was a perfectly curated journey—flowing from introspective new tracks to crowd-and-camera classics, with theatrical interludes and heartfelt encore-worthy energy. Anyone in the audience was left feeling that they weren’t just watching a concert—they were part of the musical world AJR built right there in Atlanta.

About Scott Zambito 25 Articles
I’m a concert photographer based in Atlanta, GA, with deep roots in music. I grew up behind a drum kit, and that rhythm-first mindset still fuels everything I do. Being both a musician and a photographer gives me a unique edge when I’m shooting live shows—I can feel the energy shifts, anticipate the beats, and capture those split-second moments that define a performance. Whether I’m in the pit or backstage, I’m always chasing the shot that tells the story. I don’t just photograph shows—I live them. Some of my favorite bands include Deftones, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Incubus, and Tool—many of which feature some of my all-time favorite drummers.
