Photos & Review | A Riveting Evening with Blondshell at Atlanta’s Historic Variety Playhouse

On a steamy and rain filled June night in Little Five Points, Blondshell (Sabrina Teitelbaum) delivered a deeply affecting and emotionally raw performance at Atlanta’s very own Variety Playhouse. The packed house congregated in the intimate converted movie theater, where the blend of balcony seating and open dance floor created a uniquely immersive atmosphere.

Atmospherically, the Variety Playhouse proved an ideal backdrop. The warm lighting and cozy ambiance turned the venue into a communal space, where every note felt personal. Even though Atlanta was facing stormy weather that evening, neither clouds nor rain could dampen the energy inside.

Blondshell’s interaction with the audience was authentic and genuine. Between numbers, she cracked a wry joke, expressed genuine gratitude, and built a connection with the audience that made us all feel like we had been friends for years. It was moments like these that brought out her relatability and warmth. That unspoken trust rippled through the crowd, intensifying the emotional payoffs throughout the evening.

This performance struck me as a declaration of Teitelbaum’s growth—not only as a musician, but as a presenter of unguarded, unvarnished storytelling. There were no flashy theatrics or production gimmicks—just raw emotional honesty conveyed through sharp lyrics, dynamic musicianship, and an evident connection with her audience.

Blondshell’s evening at Variety Playhouse was a compelling affirmation of her place in modern alt-rock. With emotional clarity, lyrical sharpness, and stage presence to spare, she proved why she’s rapidly becoming a defining voice for a generation seeking nuance and authenticity in music. A deeply personal, yet collectively resonant experience—this was a night Atlanta won’t soon forget.

About Scott Zambito 25 Articles
I’m a concert photographer based in Atlanta, GA, with deep roots in music. I grew up behind a drum kit, and that rhythm-first mindset still fuels everything I do. Being both a musician and a photographer gives me a unique edge when I’m shooting live shows—I can feel the energy shifts, anticipate the beats, and capture those split-second moments that define a performance. Whether I’m in the pit or backstage, I’m always chasing the shot that tells the story. I don’t just photograph shows—I live them. Some of my favorite bands include Deftones, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Incubus, and Tool—many of which feature some of my all-time favorite drummers.
