Thursday night and summer school is in session! We got the chance to attend the idobi Radio Summer School Tour when they came through Houston earlier this month and we had the best time! The tour champions a wide range of artists and bands in the pop-punk/pop-rock scene, giving them a spotlight while keeping ticket prices low. This not only showcases the beauty of the industry and how diverse the scene is but also allows fans to be able to afford a ticket to check out some newer bands that they might not have gotten to see otherwise.
Honey Revenge
Honey Revenge was up first and we are massive fans of this band. Since they released their first single from their album, Retrovision, we have been hoping we’d be able to catch one of their shows and idobi Summer School really pulled through for us. Getting to hear ‘Airhead’ and ‘Habitual’ made our entire night!
Magnolia Park
Next up was our faves, Magnolia Park, and they have grown so much since we first saw them on the scene. We got to scream ‘Misfits’ and hear their new track ‘I2I (from A Whole New World)’ live and it went as hard as we thought it would!
The Home Team
The Seattle heavy pop band, The Home Team, were up next and they did not disappoint! We have been itching to hear ‘Loud’ from their recent album, The Crucible of Life, and it really healed a part of us.
Scene Queen
Scene Queen, how we adore you! We have been obsessed with Scene Queen since they dropped their album, Bimbocore, and we finally got to hear songs from that album and their newest one Hot Singles In Your Area. ‘Barbie & Ken,’ Pink Rover,’ and ‘MILF’ are our absolute favorite songs and we are so happy we finally got to hear them in person!
Stand Atlantic
Last on the lineup was our beloved Stand Atlantic. Every time we see this Australian band live, it’s always a good time. Each member of the band is incredible at what they do and the energy that emits from the stage during their set is something we hope to see them continue to grow into!
