Haste The Day brought the “Dissentour” to The Glass House in Pomona on Friday, May 22, delivering a performance that served as a powerful reminder of why the band remains a staple of the 2000s metalcore scene. Headlining the night in support of their recently released album “Dissenter,” the band leaned heavily into newer material while still giving longtime fans plenty of reasons to lose their minds throughout the night.

From the moment the band hit the stage with “Cycles” before seamlessly launching into “Shallows,” both from “Dissenter,” it was immediately clear the newer material was going to stand front and center. Fortunately, the crowd was fully on board. The songs translated incredibly well live, sounding even heavier in the packed confines of The Glass House as circle pits erupted early and rarely stopped for long stretches of the set.

Visually, the performance constantly evolved alongside the music. Lighting colors shifted throughout the night, washing the stage in different moods and tones depending on the song. One especially striking section featured heavy green and yellow colorways that instantly evoked the colors of the “When Everything Falls” album artwork, adding another layer of nostalgia for longtime fans.

Vocalist ‘Stephen Keech’ was relentless throughout the set, delivering brutally heavy screams while constantly feeding off the energy from the crowd. Multiple times during the night, Keech stepped directly onto the barricade, leaning deep into the audience while screaming lyrics inches away from fans shouting every word back at him. It blurred the line between performer and audience in the best possible way, making the room feel chaotic yet deeply connected.

At the same time, guitarist and clean vocalist ‘Brennan Chaulk’ brought balance to the intensity with incredibly tight melodic vocals. His cleans stayed consistently sharp and on key throughout the night, providing the perfect contrast against Keech’s aggression. The harmonies between the two sounded massive live, helping songs from both the newer material and older classics hit with even more emotional weight.

While “Dissenter” dominated much of the setlist, Haste The Day made sure to dig into fan favorites from across their catalog. Tracks like “Pressure the Hinges” and “The Minor Prophets” triggered huge reactions from the crowd, many of whom clearly grew up on this era of metalcore. The room carried the feeling of longtime fans reliving a formative chapter of their lives, with older heads filling the pits and screaming lyrics like no time had passed at all.

For the encore, the nostalgia reached its peak. The second the opening moments of “When Everything Falls” hit, the crowd erupted before somehow finding another level for “Blue 42”. Fists and limbs flew wildly around the room as the pit opened even wider for the final songs of the night, turning the floor into complete chaos. Voices overwhelmed the venue as fans screamed along to every word, making the ending feel genuinely cathartic and proving Haste The Day still commands the same emotional connection they built nearly two decades ago.
