Pop queen Alessia Cara brought her ‘Love & Hyperbole‘ tour to Winnipeg on May 19 at the Burton Cummings Theatre.
The whole album is so upbeat — clearly a no-skip album. Part of the excitement for attendees was her tradition of performing a surprise song each night.
Even though the album was just released on February 14, 2025, every fan already seemed to know the songs. With uplifting lyrics and danceable melodies, Alessia lit up the entire theatre.
Halfway through the show, she said, “I’m really trying to be present, and I don’t want to worry about anything else.” The crowd went crazy, shouting, “I LOVE YOU, Alessia!” — definitely a moment worth the price of admission.
Songs like “Stay” stood out to the whole crowd. What stood out to me was Alessia pulling out an electric guitar for “Get to You” and “You Let Me Down.”
Alessia’s set was worth the ticket alone, but those who showed up early were also treated to opening performances from Jon Vinyl and Alicia Moffet. Both artists handled the theatre crowd with ease.
By the end of the night, one thing was clear: Alessia Cara literally can’t miss. At this point, it feels physically impossible for her to write songs that aren’t deeply relatable.
