Peter Björn And John: Writer's Block Anniversary, Influence on Pop Culture, Tour

There is no introduction needed for Swedish indie trio, Peter Björn and John, who celebrate their Writer’s Block anniversary, which released on August 14, 2006. The band is currently on tour after a brief hiatus.

In the summer of 2006, a revolutionary piece of art by Peter Björn and John debuted in the music scene and became a phenomenon in everyone’s soundtrack of life. The world turned when Writer’s Block was unveiled. Peter Morén (vocals, guitar), Björn Yttling (bass, keyboards) and John Eriksson (drums, percussions) have made a triumphant return for an upcoming tour, in support, the anniversary for one of the most highly influential releases of all time.

Writer’s Block is not just another indie rock album to the catalog. It has been heavily sampled by many artists of different genres from Drake, Kanye “Ye” West to Halsey. “Young Folks” set the tone for many films, television series and even appeared in various video games. How could anyone forget the opening sequence to Gossip Girl or the main number to action flick, 21. From the big screen to tiny iPod’s shuffles, the fever for Writer’s Block was real. Everywhere you go, you hear that distinctive whistle from a bystander that continues today.

From track to track is a rollercoaster of complex sentiment with their mesmerizing tune and storytelling lyrics that carry on throughout the record. What a time to be alive.
