SAN FRANCISCO — Outside Lands is about more than just the headliners, and this year is no exception. The lineup spans genres and ranges from young up-and-coming acts to pros. Here’s who else we loved on Friday and Saturday outside of Ryan Beatty, Sabrina Carpenter, French Cassettes, FLETCHER, k.flay and Renee Rapp!
K.FLay: Stanford alumni dedicated her set to overcoming trials and tribulations. She opened up about her deafness and had just an absolutely incredible set. She went on stating that San Francisco is the most beautiful city in the world and is forever in debt to the city that sparked her passion, and career. Her set included mixed in track from her catalog and “Black Wave” made a mark during her set.
FLETCHER: The New Jersey pop singer, FLETCHER delivered a diverse and fun set with some dynamic styling. Her set had more rock flare to her material, which translated well to the festival setting. FLETCHER introduced a very moody cover of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl” which was a really fun and unexpected change of pace. She kept the energy up on tracks like “Serial Heartbreaker.”
French Cassettes: San Francisco’s very own French Cassettes hit the Pandhandle Stage bright and early on Saturday. The trio had their Alternative/Indie vibe left crowd goers bouncing, dancing, and vibing along to their high energy performance. How incredible it was to see a local band have such a welcoming presence for their hometown show!
Food! Every vendor you’re walking by at Outside Lands are Bay Area vendors (well, maybe one or two aren’t). Nonetheless, seeing your favorite vendor at Outside Lands is such a blast to see. The lines aren’t too long, customer service is great and there’s nothing better eating local food while watching your favorite artist.
Weddings: A dicey introduction to jam packed festival, but the Park and Recs. department and City Hall pulled this off very, very well! Couples are secluded from heavy foot traffic, but can also look over their shoulder to see their favorite artist perform/hear various artists play. The gardens are gorgeously decorated and well maintained thanks to staff and volunteers.
