Miss May I Releases 15th Anniversary Edition of Their Apologies Are For The Weak Album

Celebrating over a decade of powerhouse performances and almost reaching 1,000,000 Spotify monthly listeners, metalcore band Miss May I released a re-recorded version of their 2009 album Apologies Are For The Weak on August 23rd. In the re-recorded edition of their debut album, each song is remastered with features from other phenomenal bands including August Burns Red, Currents, Fit For A King, and many more.

In honor of this milestone, Miss May I vocalist, Levi Benton, answered some of our questions. In this interview, he reminisces over the past decade, shares his dream collaboration, what’s next for the band, and passes on a lesson for younger upcoming artists in the scene.

CC: It has been a long and amazing 15 years of releasing music and touring, what has been the most impactful moment of this whole journey for you as individuals and as a band?

Benton: It has been a crazy ride and has taken us further than we could have ever imagined. I think the most impactful experience was the cover of Alternative Press and headlining the AP Tour. To be a metal band in 2012 and get that cover was a huge achievement and felt unobtainable as a metal band. It really put us in the forefront and established our band on a whole new level.

CC: What lessons have you learned that you would pass onto musicians just starting out in the metal/rock scene?

Benton: I would tell them to be true to themselves and make sure they’re playing what they want to play. Even if it means it feels against the grain and the uncertainty of what a crowd will think. If it makes you feel good your fans will feel good.

CC: The re-release has collabs with bands such as Currents, Fit For A King, and Silent Planet. Which collaborations were you most excited about?

Benton: I was most excited for Impending Doom and Carnifex. Those guys took us on our first tour and trusted us as openers, and it really was a huge for us for them to have that faith in us. We owe them everything and to have them come back on that album has just been so rewarding.

CC: As far as future projects, do you have a dream collaboration?

Benton: I would really love to collaborate with In Flames one day. Whether it’s a tour, song or feature.

CC: What can fans expect next from Miss May I after this release? Any new music in the works?

Benton: We do have a lot of new music in the works and there will be new music for our upcoming tour. 2025 is new chapter with our new lineup and we are just getting started.

With news of new music and excitement for the upcoming fall tour, metalcore fans are in for a treat. Stream the revamped version of Apologies Are For the Weak, out now on Spotify and all other platforms and catch them on tour in your hometown this October.
