There are certain artists who seem to exist in a lane entirely of their own. Whether you love them, hate them, or simply find yourself curious about what they’ll do next, they have a way of commanding your attention. Machine Gun Kelly who now simple is recognized by MGK, has always been one of those artists for me.

Over the years, I have watched MGK evolve from a rapid-fire rapper to a genre-bending artist who seems completely comfortable blurring the lines between hip-hop, rock, pop-punk, and everything in between. Regardless of what chapter of his career you connect with most, one thing has remained consistent: his ability to create a genuine connection with his fans. That connection was on full display when his tour rolled through on a rainy night in Atlanta at Lakewood Amphitheatre.

Before MGK ever stepped foot on stage, the crowd was treated to a set from Wiz Khalifa. As someone whose music has become synonymous with summer playlists, late-night drives, and overall good vibes, Wiz was the perfect artist to set the tone for the evening. I have covered countless shows throughout Atlanta, but there is something unique about Lakewood Amphitheatre on a summer night. The combination of the open-air setting, thousands of excited fans, and the Atlanta skyline glowing in the distance creates an energy that feels larger than life.
