Live Stream Concert Review: Puscifer Plays in Arizona Desert

On October 30, Puscifer performed their first new album in five years for an exclusive online livestream. Puscifer is an American rock supergroup formed in Los Angeles by Maynard James Keenan, known as the lead singer of the Tool and A Perfect Circle. The concert began to air thirty minutes prior to the main showcase. Puscifer discusses their idea of setting the stage as Arizona-inspired due to the elements and native creatures. The group felt it was the perfect fit. It kicked off with a remix of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” in a black and white short film.

The introduction was filled with authentic music video clips, political statements about transgender in sports, and Donald Trump in a cartoon manner. Meanwhile, I waited for the set to start, I poured myself a warm, well drink to get the full experience of attending a live stream. I set my audio on the highest bar and turned off all media around me. You hear the extraterrestrial sounds of “Bread and Circus” to start off their set.

The beats will remind you of early Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem, and 80’s new wave. You see the silhouettes of the band as the blue fog starts to disappear. I was exhilarated and on the edge of my seat once the show started. I felt I was there in person, part of the moment. I was in a trance listening to the ambient music that resonated with campfire embers.

The performance continued little over an hour, playing their new album, Existential Reckoning in its entirety.

I was astonished by the directing of the concert. They truly captured every detail and clear melodies of each performer. The full concert was cinematic with striking visuals and powerhouse voices of Maynard James Keenan and Carina Round. It reeled me into watching more livestream shows at home in the near future. It was such a majestic experience to remember!
