Art of Dying “Rise Up” album review

Art of Dying have come out with their latest album, Rise Up, through Better Noise Records.  The band follows up their most recent full-length from 2011, Vices & Virtues.  The hard, alternative rock style of this Canadian quartet

“Best Won’t Do” starts out the album with an explosive start to this race that is Art of Dying.  It’s shows the band for all their worth and is a great way to start out a great record.

The band also released their Rise Up EP earlier this year and the songs off of that were also placed onto this record to give some fans a taste of what was to come on this album earlier in the year.  The remastered songs for this full-length are: “Tear Down the Wall,” “RIse Up,” “Everything” “Eat You Alive” and “Some Things Never Change.”

If you happened to catch that EP, you’ll know that the band brought their best for this album.  “Everything” shows us the softer side of Art of Dying and will make you want to scream along with the band next time you experience them live.  It is one of the highlights of the album.

The title track came off the EP earlier in the year and features guest guitar work from Disturbed’s Dan Donegan, who helped discover the band.  The band is definitely rising to the occasion with this album.

“Space” features a short, but sweet, guitar solo on top of catchy lyrics.  Each song off this album can be the next big thing in rock.  Watch out for these guys.

The fast and clear vocals from lead singer Jonny Hetherington, along with the smooth and gritty guitar and bass work from Tavis Stanley and Cale Gontier, respectively, complement each other well.  Smash in Jeff Brown’s loud drums, with his double bass on some songs, and each track on this album fits on top of each other well.

Art of Dying finished 2015 on a high note and they are definitely a force to be reckoned with in 2016.
