Taylor Brielle had the opportunity to chat with Sleeptalk’s lead vocalist Anthony Fitzpatrick about the upcoming release of their new EP titled “Desert Daze”
Concert Crap: We are very excited about the release of your upcoming EP Desert Daze! Tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind this album.
Anthony: Thank you! We are extremely excited to finally release this EP! The Desert Daze – EP is about moving forward and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
It’s about letting go of something and finding new love.
CC: What makes current Sleeptalk sound different compared to your sound back when you released your first EP Pure?
A: I think this time around we really know the Sleeptalk sound. We finally know what works with what if that makes sense. We produced/recorded this whole EP ourselves for the most part so we had 100% control of what we wanted to do.
I was able to have Justin try all the stupid shit I wanted to hear haha. This is 100% us.
CC: “dontbesoblue” was the first single released to the public on June 28, 2019. What is the story behind the lyrics?
A: “‘dontbesoblue’ was one of the first songs we wrote when we began coming up with new ideas for our upcoming EP, Desert Daze. The concept for this song came together when our band was looking to refresh ourselves from previous obligations along with me coming out of a long-term relationship. Relationships of any sort can get exhausting at times and get to the point where a fresh start is ultimately needed. This song is about that much needed fresh start and moving forward while finding yourself at the same time.
CC: Any local shows or tour plans in the near future?
A: Yes we are playing at The Moroccan Lounge in DTLA for our EP release on July 6th!
CC: When can we finally hear Desert Daze on all music platforms?
A: You can grab a physical CD of Desert Daze at our EP release show July 6th before its official release date. Desert Daze will be available on all streaming platforms on July 31st, 2019.
