Album Review: Like Moths To Flames – “Dark Divine”

DD

I loved Dark Divine from the first note. “New Plagues” had a really interesting opening which grabbed my attention right away. The heaviness was exactly the amount that I wanted and the chorus got stuck in my head immediately. “Nowhere Left To Sink” gave me a good, strong beat along with another catchy chorus. “Mischief Managed” is one of my favorite songs on the album – and not just because I love Harry Potter. It’s definitely one of the heavier songs, but the lyrics are also extremely resonating and I like the way the guitar meshes with the beat of the bass and drums. It’s the song I found myself playing in my car the most.

The overall feel of this album is heavy. The choruses of all of the songs are actually really catchy and provide a nice complement to the screaming lyrics. Some songs are a bit lighter whereas some are a bit heavier, so there’s a song to fit your mood every day. The entire album has a really strong beat, which help keeps you headbanging to the proper rhythm. The guitar has moments where it just screeches and is the main focus to moments where it’s there just to back up the screams. Overall, I think Like Moths To Flames has a great balance of sound in their album. Most importantly, I think this is an album that will be absolutely killer live. Dark Divine is available now.
