Sean Danielsen is one busy guy. One-third of hard rock trio Smile Empty Soul that released their eighth studio album Rarities March 10, Danielsen released a solo project of his own, called Product of Isolation, back in January.
While this is not Danielsen’s first solo project, it is his first full length solo album. Since he is a member of Smile Empty Soul, comparisons between the two albums are obviously going to be drawn. Rarities is definitely a heavier album, where Product of Isolation is mellower.
It would be unfair, however, to have Rarities overshadow Product of Isolation because Product of Isolation is an amazing album all on its own. Danielsen brings in some of those influences from Smile Empty Soul into his solo release, but he manages to create an album that stands completely on its own with its own special sound; this is heard really well in “All This Talk,” a standout track, and “Still”.
Danielsen has created a sound that penetrates right to the deepest layers of your soul when you hear it. “Wedding Song” is a prime example and one of the best tracks on the album, if not the best; what makes this song so special is that it is completely acoustic, but effortlessly paints a picture in your head of a bridge and groom having their first dance at their wedding. Another great example is “Is tt Wrong.”
When you turn off the music, you just want to go back to it, turn it on, and listen to it again and again. Danielsen has a winner on his hands with Product of Isolation.
