Who is Shikobi?

Shikobi - Promo

Concert Crap: Who is Shikobi? Can you give a brief history of your band?

Luke Hession: “Shikobi” is a made up word, derived from the word “Shinobi”, which is an ancient Japanese Warrior. Shikobi is a modern day rock warrior.

CC: You guys have an interesting hard rock, nu metal sound. Where does your inspiration come from?

LH: Our style and sound is definitely a combination of all of our favourite bands and influences, bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, P.O.D., Rage Against The Machine, to name a few. Inspiration comes randomly, at any time or place. Sometimes it’s a melody that pops into your head that you need to just get out – with a voice recorder or by picking up a guitar. Other times it comes when we’re jamming together, once we get the creative juices flowing we write music very quickly.

CC: Can you talk about your first single release “Here We Go Again”? What is it all about and what has been the response to it?

LH: “Here We Go Again” is essentially about a night, or nights, out with the boys in the band. About having a good time, enjoying each other, enjoying life. where ever we may be. The response has been great, we’ve been seeing so many reviews and articles, we’re really happy with how people are taking to us.

CC: Who are some of you favorite current artists?

LH: We’re loving the new Blink 182 album, Twenty One Pilots are really cool. We listen to such a huge range of music, from electronic to indie, AWOLNATION are making some great new music.

CC: Is there anything else you would like to say to your fans or anyone that may be reading this interview?

LH: Thanks for the support so far, we can’t wait to unveil more of our music!
